Why the rush? Because they have been paying attention to the market and notice that prices keep on going up. Waiting one more year would mean being priced out of the market, even after having saved most of their money by living rent-free. They’re both smart kids and came to the conclusion that the best time to buy real estate was yesterday.
We started looking at 2 bedroom condos but ended up focusing our search on condo townhomes instead. Since they really wanted a freehold home, this was the next best thing. We made an offer on one particular townhome, but couldn’t reach a meeting of the minds. So we kept on looking.
So the search stared with us looking for a 1 bedroom + den condo. Going this route meant them not having to reach their max budget on their first property. After a couple of visits to properties, we quickly realized that the 1 bedroom was not going to work, since Faizal worked from home. He wanted a real office space with a door and window and not just a nook with a desk.
Eventually, we found the right townhome that had pretty much everything they were looking for (which is very rare in today’s market!). It was a multiple offer situation, so we had to compete with 3 other buyers on offer night.
